Ohio Star Ball: 35th Annual Celebration

The Ohio Star Ball will once again host the World Pro/Am Championships and World Professional American Smooth and Rhythm Championships. With the rising interest of Pro/Am dancing worldwide, the Ohio Star Ball has been selected to host these prestigious categories for 2012, now giving dancers from the four corners of the globe the opportunity to Win A World Title right here in the United States!
In addition to the previously mentioned Pro/Am events, the Pro/Am Standard Gentlemen Only Championship will take place and not to forget our college ballroom dancers, we will be also hosting the U.S. National Collegiate Championships this year at the Ohio Star Ball.
The selection of the Team Members for the 2013 International Junior Couple Arnold Classic Team Match will be happening in Ohio. Top Juniors from the United States and Canada in the J3 thru J6, Under 21, and Open 5 Dance Latin and Standard Divisions will have the chance to make the Team. Additionally, there is a new Pro/Am competition category for youth called the World Pro/Am Championship Youth, which includes all 4 dance styles for ages 16 to 18.
Also, the Grand Finales of the Best of the Best Challenge and the DanceSport Series Team Match will take place.

And for the DanceSport Series Team Match, perhaps you've waited all year to see which region will become a world title winner? Don't miss the Grand Finale when all 7 regions, with the top team winners of each region, compete in the Grand Finale World DanceSport series Team Match.
Be sure to check out which region you represent (<-click to view map) and support your team by wearing your region colors and by cheering on all your fellow team dancers as they compete for this prestigious title of World Pro/Am DanceSport Team Match Grand Champions. Last year's winner was Region 7, so don't miss out seeing if Region 7 can retain their title, or if there will be a new team champion.
Weekend Dance Camp - Double Whammy!!!
For those of you who love to learn - we are running a dance camp and competition simultaneously! Whether you are a spectator or competitor, with or without a partner or social dancer, you will now have the opportunity to take Group Classes from our expert panel of teachers. You'll be able to enjoy learning the latest in styling and technique from our exciting faculty of Dancesport Celebrities. The following lists scheduled days for lectures. Each day there will be 3 lectures of 45 minutes each. Note that the list of scheduled lecturers is tentative and subject to change.

Best of the Best Challenge Finale
For the 2012 Best of the Best Challenge, the Pro/Am winners from the 2011 Holiday Classic, and the 2012 Maryland Dancesport, California Open, San Francisco Open, Emerald Ball, Atlanta Open, Yankee Classic, Capital DanceSport, Embassy Ball, First Coast Classic, and Millennium competitions will battle it out for Top Honors! The Grand Finale for this year's Challenge will be held at the 2012 Ohio Star Ball. At this Finale, the closed Bronze and Silver finale competitions will take place on Wednesday evening, November 14, 2012, and the Open Gold finale competitions will take place on Thursday evening, November 15, 2012.

Arnold Dancesport 2012
A related event will be occurring on March 3-4, 2012 when the Seventh Annual Arnold Juvenile, Junior, Youth and Collegiate Dancesport Classic takes place. The Ohio Star Ball will be held at the Columbus Convention Center, and the adjoining Hyatt Regency Columbus hotel. This is in downtown Columbus, just north of the State Capital Building and just south of the Ohio State University. It is also right next to an area called the Short North, which is an area rich in restaurants, shops, and other businesses. A good resource for fine dining in Columbus can be found at the Dine Originals Columbus web site. Please check this web site out for great places to eat in Columbus.
For the Friday and Saturday Ohio Star Ball events, the newly renovated Battelle Grand Ballroom will be used. This is in addition to the Regency Ballroom, the Grand Ballroom (for the college competitions), and other areas that are used for events during the week. The Battelle Grand Ballroom is now one of the largest ballrooms in the midwest. The images above and to right show the dramatic new glass wall that is part of this new ballroom. We are looking forward to using this fantastic venue in 2012 and for future Ohio Star Ball competitions.
The hotels that are used for our package customers are the previously mentioned Hyatt Regency Columbus and the adjacent Drury Inn Hotel. The other recommended hotels are the Red Roof Inn and the Crowne Plaza hotels. For these last 2 hotels, please mention that you are with the Ohio Star Ball in order to receive a discounted rate.
If you are flying in to the Columbus Airport, access to the downtown is a short 10 minute drive from the airport.
